After feeding in your height and weight, an app can tell you the exact amount of water you need to drink in a day and will even remind you in intervals. Another app changes one’s look (makeup, hair, and clothes) as trial before going through with the transformation in real time. Then there are safety apps where one blows into the phone and checks his/her alcohol consumption or apps where distress signals are relayed to the nearest official on pressing a button. Convenient and customized, apps play out different roles — a PA to parent, spouse, friend, and advisor in less than 60 secs, if need be.
Being one of the fastest growing and constantly innovating markets today, we see the hype that surrounds this breakthrough. But are apps just a fad or are they permanent fixtures in human evolution?
