Spoilt For Choices
Making a choice seems like ‘the great Indian time-pass’. We take pleasure in the process, relishing the journey. Food menus, shopping, political parties, education boards, IPL teams – Indians love being spoilt for choices. This has nothing to do with the inefficiency in the decision making process but with the need to have an array of options before the decision making process can commence. But why the need?
The most probable answer is the extensive diversity India has always thrived in. As a country we have grown up surrounded by multiple options – from languages, cultures and religions, varied geographical terrains to the equally varied dress codes and eating habits. We even get to choose from nearly a million Gods! In such a scenario, being spoilt for choice becomes a necessity.
